Terramycin Opthalmic Ointment
Terramycin (oxytetracycline Hcl) is an antibiotic, possessing potent antimicrobial activity. It is one of the most versatile of the broad-spectrum antibiotics, and is effective in the treatment of infections due to gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, both aerobic and anaerobic. Polymyxin B sulfate is bactericidal, and is effective in treating gram-negative bacteria and some funguses. Each gram of ointment contains 5 mg of oxytetracycline and 10,000 units of polymyxin B.
Terramycin is for the treatment of superficial eye infections. Symptoms include (but are not limited to): swollen/puffy eyes, crust and discharge in and around the eye, itching, and redness. Treats: streptococci, rickettsiae, E. coli, conjunctivitis, keratitis, pink eye, corneal ulcer, and blepharitis.
Terramycin Ophthalmic Ointment should be administered topically to the eye 2-4 times daily. Allergic reactions can occur. Treatment should be discontinued if reactions are severe.
